Exploration 8 - Mackenzie

Part 1

With happiness coming through him
And a minute of fear
He embarked on his journey
Forty-five minutes spent
“Dancing on top of the world”.

While I was concerned for his life
He was grinning.
While I was thinking “don’t fall, don’t fall”
He was lying on the wire smiling

The birds flew over him
As he was lying on the wire
Just living in the moment
He conquered the impossible
He conquered his dreams.

I chose to share this passage from my poem that I wrote called "Dancing on top of the world".  I chose this because I thought it was some of my better work with how passionate I felt about this topic.  I thought that I was bringing out how I felt about this subject and was taking in to thought of what he was thinking on the tight rope.

Part 2

The last subject that I feel I can write about, is on the terms of the song "Where is the love?" by the Black Eyes Peas.  This song represents the heartache our world puts each other through.

"Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love".
Just this part of the song represents what we have been going through for years and I am still waiting for a change in the world, one that will actually make a difference.  To stop the hate is what we need in this world.  It is definitely worth being literate about because if people know what is really going on, maybe there will be room for more change.

  1. I like that you decided to share some of your poem. The poem assignment kind of through me for a loop, it definitely wasn't my best work. I think you did a wonderful job with creating emotion through the poem and how you shared your feelings while intertwining them with Philippes. What a creative way to share both perspectives. Good job!

  2. I like that you decided to share your poem of Phillipe Petite, it feels as of we wrote those ages ago. I like how descriptive the poem is, it almost makes me feel as if I'm standing their witnessing all of the craziness that happened on that day. Really good job!

  3. I also chose to share my poem. I thought your poem was really descriptive. i thought your title really captured the moment of what Petite was doing. I have never heard that song before. From reading the lyrics I think it is a really good song that we should listen to

  4. I'm jamming to this song as I write this post. I love the message it has and the several meanings that can be interpreted by it.
