Exploration 8 Own design Cameron Watson

1) I decided to share a piece of writing from a long long time ago.  It is exploration 3.  This was the exploration that discussed the documentary we watched titled The Hobart Shakespearians.  This was the documentary of the elementary students taught be Mr. Rafe.  I thought that in my writing the piece that I wrote that meant a lot was when I wrote, "There were various teaching methods used by Mr. Rafe such as being constructively honest and straight to the point.  These boys and girls are ten and eleven years old and he is being harsh.  Being harsh can be a bad thing, a negative teaching strategy sometimes, but the way Mr. Rafe incorporates harshness into his teaching is the exact opposite.  Although he is tough, he wants what is truly best for each of his students."  That was one of the most inspirational and moving documents I've seen in a while.  I think that is why it was pretty easy to write about.

2) The last subject I can leave for you guys is a website and a program called Lacrosse The Nations.  Lacrosse The Nations is program started by my high school Worthington Kilbourne.  Lacrosse the Nations unifies the lacrosse community to sustainably improve education and health while creating joy and opportunity for children in need.  The organization takes trips all over the world such as Nicaragua and Costa Rica and teaches the children of those countries how to play lacrosse.  I had the opportunity to go to Nicaragua but I was unable to do so.  My buddies went and they said that it was without a doubt the best experience of their lives.

3) Here's the link to the main website! Hope you guys can check it out and who knows if it interests you guys maybe sign up in any way just to get involved! Thanks. http://lacrossethenations.org

  4. That is crazy that a program like that came from your school! I would have loved to have such an amazing opportunity in high school. That is awesome how an organization can be created using someones passions and help others. I am sure that would have been an amazing and rewarding experience.
