"The
first day of junior year had arrived. Walking into that school looked the same
as it did on every first day of school. The parking lot was filled with cars,
it was warm and early enough that you could watch the sun rise behind the
school (I had only noticed cause I hadn’t been up early enough all summer to
see the sun rise anyway). The walk into the building was the same as always the
school was big, was made of tan brick, long in structure, and always had the
American flag blowing in the breeze out front. All of the students walked in
with their new outfits, clean shoes, and brand new backpacks. The girls had
their hair done perfectly and the guys had fresh new haircuts, everyone trying
to impress on the first day. Our principal of Olentangy Orange High School—Mr.
Meyer, stood right out front walkie-talkie in hand greeted each student with a
nice warm “welcome back.” I was not excited to be there, I didn’t have the same
feeling I did the previous years, and I didn’t know why other than I was
nervous for the amount of work and my new classes. Having in the back of my
mind that I wanted to be a doctor I decided to take some advanced science
classes, which were considered to be the toughest AP (Advanced Placement)
classes in the school. My class schedule consisted of: AP Biology, AP
Psychology, AP chemistry, Pre-Calculus, and Art I. All of my friends and close
classmates thought I was insane to be taking that many hard classes at once,
they all thought it would be impossible to balance. Little did I know that in
the end, they would be right."
-- I chose this paragraph because I think that my description and sensory details are exceptional in this paragraph.
"The headache became a reoccurrence, I would be
sitting there in class and once the pain started all I wanted to do was close
my eyes and sleep—so I did. Sleeping in class wasn’t right for many reasons it
was rude to my teacher, embarrassing to myself, and frankly not comfortable.
Because my headaches did not go away I started just leaving school to go home
and go back to bed. However, by doing this I fell significantly behind in my
classes, and began failing. I couldn’t take this anymore so I went to my mom
and told her about the headaches. I was so nervous to tell my mom about this
and that I had fallen behind in class, I was so scared that she would be
disappointed in me and think I was making excuses because I was too lazy to do
the work, and I told her that (I was scared to tell her about it for that
reason). Till this day I will never forget what she said, “Bryson, you are my
son I love you more than you could possibly ever imagine. I am so sorry that
you ever thought that, you should be able to come to me with anything. A
mother’s love is unconditional and I want more than anything to help you in
anyway I can, not just now but your entire life. Your health and wellbeing is
more important than anything else and that is always the top priority.” When
she said this to me I had such a huge feeling of relief come over me and I felt
for the first time in a long time that it was okay to want different things
than what my mother would expect, and that it was okay to fail at things that
it was just a learning experience."
--I chose this paragraph, because it highlights my weakest point in the story and then the realization that I came to after experiencing my failure.

This is a video clip from a movie called "Olympus Has Fallen". This clip is the president giving a speech at the end of the movie talking about the issues and how the nation will overcome them. Even though this is a made up speech and movie I have always liked this clip because of the speech. It is such a powerful well written speech and honestly one of the best speeches I've ever heard and what I would consider an even better speech than some of President Barack Obama. Words and speeches are so powerful and can affect an audience and change so many things, just by how you speak, the tone, the sentence format, and the individual words themselves. I consider this to be a very powerful speech.
