Exploration 7 - Chazz

The article that I chose to review is titled “I Just Gave Up $4000 Per Month to Keep My Freedom of Speech”. This article is stating that MMM got cut $4000 from chase because they didn’t like the banner that he was using on his site that had the word “Badassity” in it. They felt that the banner expressed inappropriate content, and felt that it needed to be changed. MMM responded by saying that he didn’t feel that his banner had any inappropriate content, and that he was just being honest and himself, and if they insist on removing the word from his banner then they’d have to part ways, and they did actually end up parting ways with MMM.

One strength that I found on this blog is that MMM was very adamant on his position towards the subject, and refused to let someone take away his freedom of speech even if it meant losing that large amount of money per month. He said that “If I’m willing to make my own writing shittier just to comply to a corporate monitoring program, then why not just go right back to an office job? After all, I could also make $20,000 unneeded dollars a month as an Engineering manager,” This to me shows that he has a very strong opinion about the request that Chase made. I really didn’t find any weaknesses, as I felt that he was standing up for himself, and the article was very brief and he explained why he felt the way that he did.

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this article and I liked the way his writing style wasn’t censored, and he said what he wanted to say. I think that this is why his blog might be so popular because he is just being himself, and that really shows in his blog posts.I feel that people who are in low income, and looking for ways ti improve their lifestyle would follow and love this blog.

  1. This blog seems interesting. I think that MMM is a very opinionated person, and I could see him getting really mad when people disagree with him. Though, he needs to face reality. Yes, he is being his own person, but did he really think that Chase was going to be okay with that banner? I feel like he's trying to change so many different people's opinions. Why? Does it matter what other people think to him? This blog seems like he's trying to support his reasoning more than trying to help others save money.

  2. This blog seems interesting and unique. I think that there is a lot of information and advice to be given in this blog from MMM. I also agree with Courtney in the manner that he is trying to change a lot of peoples opinions, and would also ask why does it matter what people think of him? Great job summarizing the information.

  3. I liked the was you summed up this blog post by MMM. I thought it was interesting that chase cut him $4,000 just for having the word "badassity" in his banner for his own site! I mean this is the site that he created, and I feel like he should be able to characterize it in any way that sees fit. When I first saw the word "badassity" on his banner for his site, I thought it spoke volumes about his personality without even reading any of his posts. I think that the word fits well too when reviewing the subject matter of his blog! I also agree with you when you explain that it was a strength for him to stand by his banner and take the cut for it. He shouldn't have to change something when it means that dearly to him. That's just my opinion, but very nice review! You did great.

  4. I really liked this post by MMM as you call him! He has very solid points of explaining to people that we don't need everything that we think we need. We grow up in a culture that is consumed with spending money to obtain nice things and to live a luxurious lifestyle to be fulfilled, but MMM deflates our egos and reminds us it's better to save our money than to allow "them" to control our actions with money.
